Pirating media such as music, software, books, movies and T.V but especially video games are becoming a very common thing in society.Information technology that is being used to pirate the video game are high Tec computers, that have a fast and stable internet connection to upload the large files that are the video games. The Pirates either buy the game to then upload it to a file sharing website like The Pirate bay or they take it from the website, to put there as their own.
Some of the concerns are that people are putting their hard work, time and money into the things they make while people are stealing it. Making their work, their time,an their effort just to making a living worthless, pointless and unimportant. Also greatly effected by this are The studios and publishers who spend time and money to create the best game they can
The people involved are pirates who take the Video games and put them on a file sharing website to be downloaded by the general public. They loose money and so do the re-sellers.The advantages for the pirates are that the pirate can get money or they are able to use the game to exploit the user and use the user for malicious purposes. The user, though gets the game and saves money. But there are plenty of disadvantages to this. The user can be hacked and all of their private information can be stolen, The company who made the game loses money, the re seller loses money and could also go out of business. For stakeholders, they lose money and interest in the business. They gain no advantages, unless they are with the pirating company and then they are affected by the disadvantages as much as the companies are.
It isn't unethical to pirate video games, but it is against the law. If you are caught with pirated material you will be finned, but if you are caught distributing pirated material you could go to jail. Not pirating material Is a major law that is being broken every time someone pirates. Although most people don’t care about this issue, some people have very strong opinions about this and choose to withstand from doing this sort of activities
Some solutions for preventing piracy could be to; lock out the game to people without a security code that could come provided with the box, this would stop people playing the game. Bundle more with the game, not just the game its self, add a figurine or trading cards or something. This would make collectors go nuts. Shut down the websites, this would work extremely well
